Dual award wins for Ferryden Park

We were thrilled when our Ferryden Park Community Housing Development was named the winner of two Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) SA Awards for Excellence. The development also received a commendation in the Planning Institute of Australia awards under the category of Community Wellbeing and Diversity. Ferryden Park includes eight two-bedroom houses for women aged 55 and over, who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. It also provides access to wrap-around supports to enhance tenant’s health and wellbeing.

Affordable Housing at Kidman Park

We continued construction on our new community housing project in Kidman Park. The project includes five three-bedroom townhouses to support people in need of affordable housing in Adelaide’s west. Built in partnership with Dominion Homes and the SA Housing Authority, the homes are ideally located in an established community, within a short walk from schools, shops and public transport.

Prospect Community Housing Development

In December, we commenced construction on our Prospect Community Housing Development – the largest in our 100-plus year history. The new four-storey development will include a mix of affordable and social housing, along with Specialist Disability Accommodation apartments. This will provide a new start for families, couples and individuals who can’t compete in today’s ultra-competitive rental market. In addition, the new development will include 7 three-bedroom townhouses, all to be sold. The development is expected to be complete by mid-2024.

Tier 1 Status for our housing portfolio

UnitingSA Housing attained Tier 1 status through Australia’s national regulatory system, reaffirming its position as a leading provider of community housing.

This classification through the National Regulatory System for Community Housing demonstrates UnitingSA’s commitment to delivering high-quality, affordable housing, and recognised our huge potential for growth.

Salisbury Housing Co-operative transfer

A further 23 homes were added to our community housing portfolio through a merger with the Salisbury Housing Co-operative Incorporated.

The homes are located in Adelaide’s northern suburbs and include a mix of social, affordable and retirement living options, all surrounding a central courtyard to create a vibrant and engaged community atmosphere.

Susan is using her voice

After escaping a violent, long term relationship, Susan found herself homeless with no rental history, no superannuation, no family and no income. UnitingSA Housing was able to offer her a safe and secure home where she could rebuild her life. She was able to study to become a disability worker. Today she owns her own home. Susan is now a Lived Experience representative on the Housing Security for Older Women Taskforce, alongside our CEO Jenny Hall coming together with other thought leaders to help find better, long term solutions to homelessness.
