Call for volunteers

We called for more volunteers across our five aged care sites, following an 80 per cent drop due to COVID-19. While our employees deliver amazing care and support to our residents, the extra companionship provided by our volunteers is priceless. From sharing a simple cup of tea to listening to their stories or enjoying a board game, the role our volunteers play is invaluable.

UDIA Finalist

We were proud to be named as a finalist in the ‘Aged Care & Community Housing’ and ‘Seniors Living’ categories in the UDIA SA Awards for Excellence, for the $11.4 million redevelopment of Westminster Village Aged Care in Grange. The redevelopment transformed the residential aged care site with the addition of a new 37-bed wing.

UnitingSA West Lakes

UnitingSA West Lakes Aged Care was nominated as a finalist in the Property Council of Australia Innovation & Excellence Awards. This state of the art, five-storey aged care facility, located in the stunning coastal suburb of West Lakes, was opened in April 2021. It was born from a vision to create a community that could combine high-quality care with premium, rooftop retirement living, enabling older couples to remain together as their care needs change. The building offers extensive communal indoor and outdoor spaces with amazing views, and is also now home to a beautiful ground floor café.

Solar panels at Westminster Aged Care

The installation of solar panels is just one way we continue to reduce our carbon footprint. Almost 230 panels were installed at Westminster Village Aged Care, providing power to over 100 residents. Combined with smart air-con upgrades and state-of-the-art energy monitoring, our residents are keeping cool without costing the planet.

Activities for all

Our Aged Care residents and employees engaged in countless creative activities throughout the year. One example is the celebration of the Festival of Lights (known as Diwali in India and Tihar in Nepal). The event included singing, dancing, and dressing in traditional attire.

Volunteers play a vital role

Aged Care volunteer Sue and 101-year-old Bessie share a special bond.

Sue loves her time volunteering, offering companionship and enrichment to the daily lives of our residents.

“You get so much pleasure from seeing the residents’ faces and being involved, having a little sing along … they love telling you their life stories.”

Greyhounds make wonderful companions

Our residents enjoy regular visits from greyhounds who are part of the Greyhound Adoption Program.

These beautiful animals love to be adored, and their visits provide companionship and joy.
